The middle of Ian is forecast to go effectively southwest of Jamaica on Sunday and go close to or west of the Cayman Islands early on Monday, the company mentioned in its newest advisory.
Ian will then transfer close to or over western Cuba on Monday evening and early on Tuesday, rising over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, it added.
The storm is positioned about 395 miles (635 km) southeast of Grand Cayman packing most sustained winds of fifty miles per hour (80 kph), NHC mentioned.
